September 23, 2009
The National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education and Economics (NAREEE) Advisory Board met in April of 2009 to discuss the impacts of global climate change on agriculture and the food system. This report is the result of discussions with national program leaders, a review of current United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) climate change activities and programs, and research conducted by the Work Group.

| Report on Agriculture Research Needs of Commodity Crops

This report provides a preliminary overview of the research priorities associated with the aforementioned commodity crops (corn, soybeans, barley, cotton, wheat, rice, sugar cane, sugar beets, and peanuts) and should not be construed as an all-encompassing, inclusive report. Rather, it provides general indicators and guidance as to the currently identified priorities, and could be used as a precursor to more in-depth, specific study.

| Report from Invasive Species Work Group
July 1, 2009
At the November, 2008, general meeting of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education and Economics Advisory Board (the Board), a focus session was held on the subject of Invasive Species. During this session, REE Mission Area staff as well as Land Grant University and stakeholder experts updated the Board with respect to current major research needs and other issues associated with invasive species management and control. From these presentations and the discussion that followed this focus session, the Board has summarized its observations and prepared comments for the USDA to consider.

| A Summary of the Scope and Effectiveness of Research, Extension and Economics Programs in Renewable Energy
February 27, 2009
The Renewable Energy Committee (REC) of the NAREEE Advisory Board was established in 2008 and is charged to study the scope and effectiveness of research, extension and economics programs within the USDA Research, Education and Economics (REE) mission area. A preliminary review of renewable energy programs and initiatives was conducted by a Work Group from the NAREEE Advisory Board. Work Group findings were presented and discussed at the full NAREEE Advisory Board meeting held in November, 2008, in Washington, DC.
